A firm of Birmingham solicitors braved the weather to complete a 10 mile fun run and raised over £2,000 for Headway West Midlands Brain Injury Awareness Week.
The Birmingham office of Irwin Mitchell is supporting Brain Injury Awareness Week, and on Saturday, a team of lawyers completed the 10 mile fun run/walk which started from Irwin Mitchell's city centre office and finished at Headway West Midlands headquarters in Rubery.
Despite the heavens opening, Beth Hyde and Chetan Parman from Fitness 4 Less Birmingham kept everyone's spirits up with a warm up routine prior to the run. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham officially cut the ribbon to start the event which was supported by over 60 participants.
Hilary Wetherell, a serious injury expert and Partner with Irwin Mitchell Solicitors said: "We have an ongoing relationship with Headway West Midlands and our aim is to raise awareness about brain injuries and the devastating effect they have on the sufferer and their carers.
"We have seen first-hand how important Headway is to families, not only for the support they receive but for the opportunity to meet others living with the same condition, which helps them to feel less isolated.
"Local authority cuts have been threatening Headway's ability to provide support, so it has never been more important to raise awareness about the excellent role they play in supporting those affected by brain injury."
"It was great to not only raise money for Headway but also to raise awareness about brain injuries. The day was superb and it was excellent to see so many people take part."
At the end of the race everyone was presented with a certificate and a goody bag by Headway West Midlands Chief Executive Sue Tyler and whilst enjoying a well deserved cup of tea and piece of cake, participants were entertained with music from 'One Voice' and a harpist.
