Access to the service

No referral form is required to use this service.   Simply call our Enquiry line - 0121-457-7541 and ask for the Community Team. By chatting to someone from the team on the Enquiry Line you can get support, advice and information relating to brain injury.  If you require any of our other services this can also be discussed We are open 9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday, but you can leave a message on our answerphone outside of these times

This Enquiry Line is a confidential service, available to anyone with a question about brain injury - from survivors and carers to students and professionals. Calls are charged at the standard rate. How we can help ...

       Below is a list of the type of some of things we can help you with.

• Provide a listening ear
• Give you specific information on many aspects of brain injury
• Give you support by talking through your situation, and try to answer any questions and concerns you may have
• Research more difficult enquiries to try to find information, or relevant places to find it
• Signpost you to other organisations where their support may be helpful
• Send you our Information Pack
• Give details of all the support groups and events for Carers and Families
• Give details of training available to carers
• Arrange a visit from an Outreach Worker
• Arrange language support or discuss services available to BMEGs
• Explain the services we have available to you

Things we are unable to do...

Below is a list of things we can't do, although we can signpost you to other services or professionals who can help, so please feel free to contact us for more information.

• Give medical advice and diagnoses. Call the Headway UK Helpline on 0808 800 2244 or try NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 or see your GP if you have medical questions
• Make specific recommendations - although we can give information that will help you to make a choice
• Provide legal advice - though we can send you a book of Solicitors working in the field of brain injury
  

If further assistance is required following the call, the team can make the arrangements for a personal visit.

There is no charge for using any of the Community Services.  A small contribution may be required to some of the social activities.
